School Tour Interpreters:
This job involves making history come alive during
school tours for children in elementary and middle grades.
Interpreters guide small groups of children through activities
such as churning butter, doing chores, shooting blowguns and
playing games. Although some positions require skilled crafters,
artisans or woodsmen, necessary information for some can be
taught in a few minutes. If you enjoy working with children
in an interactive setting, you would be a perfect volunteer
for school tours. The commitment for this position is usually
from 9:30-12:30 on an occasional weekday.
Volunteer Interpreters help connect our visitors
to the past. As a volunteer interpreter (18 years or older)
you will be trained to conduct CD tours of Stately Oaks Plantation
and be involved in both educational and outreach programming.
No costume is required. Volunteer any day Monday – Friday.
Training is available for all new volunteers. For more information
